Ban-Ying is the Thai term for "House of Women". The association was founded in 1988 and runs two projects: a shelter for women from Southeast Asia and a counselling and coordination center against trafficking in persons. Both projects are financed by the Department for Women of the Berlin City Parliament.

The counselling and coordination center of Ban Ying deals with the experiences of violence which migrant women face. There are two levels of support: the practical level where the center offers counselling and psycho-social support; and the theoretical, scientific and political levels.
So far, we have provided counselling to women from 42 countries and four continents in their native languages.
The focus of our work is the struggle against the trafficking in persons.
